We threw Alex Geddes a Surprise party friday night. The occasion? Alex is awesome. Alex is not only awesome, he is totally rad. Alex is basically running the entire wholesale side of Courier Coffee, and it was well time for a celebration, and to show him just how much his work is appreciated.

Everyone pitched in, and a wonderful time was had by all. BT Livermore did the prints dotting the windows at IPRC. Drinks by Captured By Porches, courtesy of Kyle (LRBC fame). Food catered by Lillikoi, our friends Dekin and Veth who run a Hawaiian/ SE Asian food cart on Killingsworth east of interstate by one block. Dessert by our baker- Leala Humbert, Lillikoi jam filled cupcake bites and a Lillikoi jam mini bundt cake. The night ended with many records and affogatos for everyone (espresso over a big scoop of ice cream).

For anyone just finding us- Yes, we are a coffee shop, and we also roast coffee, supply equipment/service/parts, and we definitely sell roasted beans. Our 923 SW Oak coffee bar is open five days a week, Monday through Friday 7am-5pm.

          cold drinks on hot days

We now have the O-Haus scale downtown to measure out coffee and tea. Remember the sweet thousandth of a gram four bar balance beam scale we got from A-1 scale (23rd and raleigh)? Perfect. Alex gently wrapped and biked the scale down this morning. We are now brewing with accuracy.

Pictured above is our cold brew tea. We are using tea from Foxfire, located on 12th and Division in the Ford building. Today we are totally stocked on cold brew tea and coffee.

          Alex Geddes roasting for Courier

          Friday, August 20th, 2010

Alex Geddes has run Courier wholesale roasting and distribution for the last weeks. Logan, formerly of Little Red Bike Cafe, has been fielding deliveries Monday and Tuesday. With a delivery span of twenty miles the preparation, and production are no small feat. Especially since change orders, and unexpected orders come in often, except fielded by someone making drinks and working a bar downtown.

Running a coffee bar is rad. It is totally awesome that Alex is keeping the roastery going, and turning out beautiful roasts as well. Thank you everyone who has come out to support and be a part of our new endeavor.

John of PICNIC, a much anticipated food cart, took the picture above. Thanks John.

          peaches awesome

          Friday, August 13th, 2010

Peach upside down cake, with peaches courtesy of the Baird family farm. Leala, our baker, says their peaches are the? best. These cakes are heaven. Each day brings something new from our baker.

We have a new account on the coffee front- Volkswaffle. They are located at 7th and East Burnside, pressing up Courier Coffee. Volkswaffle opens in the morning, and then is open in the evening till late. Belgian style waffles for three bucks. Cheap and awesome.

Our chocolate for drink making, courtesy of Cacao (located three blocks away) has safely been moved to the wine cellar of our roastery at 4019 se Hawthorne. Yes, Courier Coffee at 923 SW Oak is finally open. We have no register, we have no lines. Coffee is made to order. Its like ordering beer, except we do not have beer.

The beautiful bake goods pictured above are courtesy of miss Leala Humbert, whose passion for things food pairs with ours for coffee.
